Play to have fun Treat all players, as you would like to be treated Work equally hard for yourself and your team – your team and your own performance will benefit Be sportsmanlike: Applaud all good play, whether by your team or by the opposition Co-operate with and respect your coaches, team mates, opposition and officials: these are the key principles to the game of Rugby Never argue with officials’ decisions. Let your captain or coach ask any necessary questions Win with humility – Lose with dignity As part of the team, it is important that you attend training regularly and on time Remember that the objectives of Lisburn Mini Rugby are to have fun, improve your skills and feel good about yourself and your team. Achieving these objectives will ensure that success will follow.
PARENTS AND SPECTATORS CODE
Teach your child that honest effort is as important as victory Do not force an unwilling child to participate in Mini Rugby Never ridicule or admonish a child for making a mistake during a game Children learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and by the opposition Recognise the importance of the volunteer coaches. They give their time and resources to ensure your child enjoys participating in Lisburn Mini Rugby Do not publicly question the officials’ judgment or impugn their honesty. Remember they too are volunteers
COACHES CODE
Be reasonable in your demands on the players’ time, energy and enthusiasm
Be generous with your praise when it is deserved.
Teach your players to observe the laws of the game
Insist on fair and disciplined play.
Do not tolerate, foul play or foul language.
It is important to be inclusive, so all players need and deserve game time
We want our kids to play for fun and enjoyment and that winning is only part of it.
Never ridicule or harass players for making mistakes.
